The exhibit will showcase a mix of installation pieces, sculpture, performance art, paintings, photography and other mixed media by recent art graduates and young Los Angeles-based artists.

My work on display will be a culmination of the last 5 years of my personal photography–most of which has not been exhibited until now. Highlighted are atmospheric, emotionally-laden industrial landscapes and candid, abstract moments with a scattering of small, poignant gestures. My recent focus has been on the particularity and expressiveness of dusky light, the texture of my often-concrete subjects and the substance of our heavy, urban air materialized through high-speed filmic grain. The human body and human emotion are suspended in quiet, careful consideration transcending straight-forward narrative to reveal an unexplainable, universal, gut-emotional response from the viewer.

A quick drive up the coast…

Last Thursday and Friday, Laura and I took a drive up the coast to visit with some of our favorite people in the wedding industry. We visited at a winery, we visited at a bakery, we visited over coffee, we visited by a fireplace and we visited over some of the most delicious shrimp tacos I’ve ever had. All in all, a delightful thirty-six hours away from the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles.

It reminded me how important it is to take a break every so often, get out of town, treat your eyes to a new landscape and, this time of year especially, welcome the Spring! Below is a snapshot taken from our gorgeous drive into the Santa Ynez Valley just North of Santa Barbara. Hello, Springtime! So glad to see you again!
